Zelens Triple-Action Advanced Eye Cream review

If you can only try one product from Zelens, go with Triple-Action Advanced Eye Cream.

That’s what everyone told me. It’s the best-seller from the brand. The darling editors and influencers alike rave about.

Me, I think eye creams are useless. Not the most promising start…

Still, curiosity got the better of me. Did this cream made me change my mind about eye creams? Let’s find out.

What’s In Zelens Triple-Action Advanced Eye Cream?

PEPTIDES TO FIGHT DARK CIRCLES AND WRINKLES

Every eye cream promises to fight crow’s feet and dark circles. But Zelens has taken a slightly different approach in solving these woes.

Peptides. The eye cream contains four:

  • Acetyl Octapeptide-3: A.k.a. “Botox in a jar.” Like Botox, it blocks the release of the neurotransmitters that make muscles contract. If they can’t move, they can’t form wrinkles in the long run.
  • Acetyl Tetrapeptide-5: It fights puffy eyebags “by working on several mechanisms, like improving the vascular system and strengthening the skin under the eyes preventing fluid accumulation“.
  • Palmitoyl Oligopeptide & Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7: They stimulate collagen production and fight inflammation.

The problem with peptides? Most of these studies were done by the manufacturers. They’re promising, but until we have independent research to back them up, I wouldn’t put my faith wholly on peptides.

SILICONES TO MINIMIZE IMPERFECTIONS

The base of this sunscreen is made up of silicones. It’s not as bad as you think. Silicones do a lot of good things in skincare:

  • Enhance texture: They allow the cream to glide on smoothly, without tugging or pulling.
  • Fill in fine lines and wrinkles: It’s a trick to make them look temporarily smaller.
  • Softens skin: It makes it feel silky soft to the touch.

They don’t even cause pimples: silicones have a particular molecular structure made up of larger molecules with wider spaces between each molecule. They create a barrier that keeps moisture in but still allows skin to perspire.

But if you use anything comedogenic before this cream, then yes, silicones can trap them underneath their protective barrier and cause breakouts.

Bottom line: don’t use comedogenic ingredients in your skincare and you’ll be fine.

Performance & Personal Opinion

Triple-Action Advanced Eye Cream is my least fave product from Zelens. But, I may be biased. I’m not a fan of eye creams in general. I just use my face cream all over and call it a day (or night).

As soon as I apply it, I notice the fine lines around my eyes look a little smaller and the whole area is smoother.

That’s the magic of silicones. They feel in fine lines and wrinkles, reducing their appearance. Silicones also give skin that velvety soft feel I adore. I honestly can’t stop touching my skin when I have them on. l

But, the effects of silicones are only temporary. Once you wash the cream off, your wrinkles are still there, as big as before. Nothing wrong with that, we all need a quick fix most days.

The cream also moisturized my skin to make it softer and helped depuff my eyes a little. But it did absolutely nothing for dark circles.

That little de-puffing action isn’t enough to warrant using a separate eye cream, in my opinion. I’ll go back to using my face moisturiser all over.

Does Zelens Triple-Action Advanced Eye Cream Live Up To Its Claims?

CLAIM TRUE?
A state-of-the-art eye cream with targeted triple action. What targeted triple action? Can you be more vague?
This moisturising cream helps to visibly reduce the appearance of puffiness, dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes. It helps with everything apart from dark circles.
Works instantly to soothe and revitalise the eye area. True.
Eye area looks luminous and more lifted. Didn’t do this for me.
Signs of fatigue and aging around eyes are visibly diminished. True, but then anything moisturising does this.
