Winter is the most challenging time for skin, isn’t it?
You need a rich moisturiser that strengthens your skin’s protective barrier against the harsh winter weather. But if it’s too rich, you end up with a pimple fest all over your skin.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t wanna swap flaky skin for pimples. Like, can’t I just get rid of both?
Enter Epionce Renewal Face Lotion. A lighter version of the Renewal Face Cream, Epionce swears it strikes the perfect moisture balance for normal and combination skin.
Does it deliver? I’ve put it to the test for the past month. Here are the results:
What’s In Epionce Renewal Facial Lotion?
PETROLATUM TO MOISTURISE SKIN
I know a lot of you won’t be happy to see petrolatum in Epionce Renewal Facial Lotion, but hear me out before writing it off as useless.
If you want to strengthen your skin’s protective barrier, petrolatum is one of the best ingredients for the job. It creates a protective barrier on the skin that locks moisture in and keeps germs, pollutants and other crap out of your skin.
Think of it as armour for your skin. The harsh winter weather will have a much harder time breaking it down and drying out/irritating your skin in the process.
I know what you’re gonna say now, “Ok, petrolatum may have its uses, but it comes from oil!” So, what?
Petrolatum isn’t oil. It undergoes a strict purifying process that removes ALL toxins and other impurities from it. What comes out of this process – petrolatum – is completely different from oil and 100% safe.
Will it give you pimples? Petrolatum itself isn’t comedogenic. But it can trap comedogenic ingredients into the skin, so be careful what you use it with!

SAFFLOWER SEED OIL TO STRENGTHEN YOUR SKIN’S PROTECTIVE BARRIER
Derived from the seeds of the safflower plant, safflower seed oil is another goodie that helps strengthen your skin’s protective barrier – and more.
Safflower seed oil is rich in Linoleic acid, a fatty acid that has moisturising and anti-inflammatory properties. It deeply moisturises skin and soothes irritations.
Bye bye, dry winter skin!
P.S. I’m highlighting safflower oil, but Epionce Renewal Facial Lotion has other oils, like meadowfoam and olive, that do the same thing.
GLYCERIN TO HYDRATE SKIN
It’s all well and good to trap moisture into the skin. But what if your skin doesn’t have enough moisture to begin with?
That’s where glycerin comes in. It’s a moisture magnet that attracts water from the air and the deeper layers of your skin and dumps it into the superficial layers that need it the most.
In other words, it deeply hydrates skin, making it softer and suppler.
P.S. Hyaluronic acid, another moisture magnet in Epionce Renewal Facial Lotion, does the same thing – only on a much bigger scale. It can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water!

Texture
Lightweight texture that sinks in quickly and dries to a lovely sheen.
Fragrance
It’s technically fragrance-free, but it has a bunch of essential oils that give it a citrusy, slightly herbal scent.
How To Use It
In the AM, in between serum and sunscreen. At night, it’s the last step of your skincare routine.
Performance & Personal Opinion
Epionce Renewal Facial Lotion dries to a lovely sheen. I dig the slightly dewy look, but if you’re oilier than me you may find it a bit too much.
The lotion does a wonderful job at moisturising my skin. I use it both morning and night and my skin is in top shape: softer, smoother, suppler. Even the harsh London winter doesn’t seem able to dry it out now.
FYI, this is all you can expect from this lotion. If you’re looking for something that can moisturise skin and strengthen your skin’s protective barrier without giving you pimples (I didn’t get a single one!), no one can say this doesn’t deliver.
But at this price point, I wish it went the extra mile. The cream is low on antioxidants or soothing agents. Instead, it “makes up for them” with citrus oils that can irritate sensitive skin.
The lotion didn’t irritate my skin but you get the point. Lovely moisturizer, but please Epionce, take out the fragrance and add more antioxidants next time. 🙂
