RosehipPLUS Hydrating Day Cream review

Do you want to use rosehip oil, but are not keen on the idea of slathering oil all over your face?

I get it. You may not like the feel of oil on your skin. Be worried about breakouts. Wary it may not make a good base for makeup.

Whatever the reason, pure rosehip oil isn’t the only way to add this antiaging superstar to your skincare routine. You can get your fix from RosehipPLUS Hydrating Day Cream.

Rosehip oil is the 4th ingredient in this lightweight moisturiser, so you know the brand hasn’t skimped on it. But just in case, I’ve put it to the test for you:

What’s In RosehipPLUS Hydrating Day Cream?

ROSEHIP OIL TO MOISTURISE AND FIGHT WRINKLES

Rosehip oil isn’t rose oil! Rosehip oil comes from the hips of roses (the radish-like ball roses leave behind after they blossom), not the flower itself. Here’s what it does:

Just make sure to use it with sunscreen!

CHAMOMILE EXTRACT TO SOOTHE SKIN

I’ve never seen a cream with so much chamomile before. It’s the 3rd ingredient in RosehipPLUS Hydrating Day Cream!

Chamomile is very soothing. It contains bisabobol and chemazulene, two substances with anti-inflammatory properties that calm down irritations and reduce redness.

Plus, chamomile has its fair share of antioxidants to help prevent premature wrinkles.

FYI, if you’re allergic to any plant in the daisy family, chamomile will have the opposite effect on you. Instead than soothing your skin, it’ll irritate it real bad!

COCOA SEED BUTTER TO MOISTURISE SKIN TOO

I prefer to eat my cocoa butter instead of putting it on my skin –  and not just because it’s comedogenic. I just want to eat all the white chocolate. 😉

(FYI, cocoa butter is the 5th ingredient in RosehipPLUS Hydrating Day Cream. It’s probably not enough to give you pimples – unless your skin is super oily to begin with.)

Cocoa seed butter is super moisturising. It makes skin soft and smooth and creates a barrier on the skin that keeps moisture in.

The best part? Cocoa butter has antioxidants, too. It keeps wrinkles at bay while it moisturises your skin. Win win.

Texture

White in colour, RosehipPLUS Hydrating Day Cream isn’t lightweight. But it’s not thick either. The texture falls just in between, spreads easily and absorbs quickly.

Fragrance

Subtle, slightly floral.

How To Use It

In the AM, in between serum and sunscreen. At night, it’s the last step of your skincare routine.

Performance & Personal Opinion

RosehipPLUS Hydrating Day Cream has a great consistency for dry skin in the daytime. You can easily layer it under sunscreen and makeup without it feeling heavy or greasy.

But if your skin is super dry – or worse, cracked – this won’t be enough for you. In this case, you may want to mix it with an oil or layer it over a hyaluronic acid serum.

I like how soft it makes my skin. The extra moisture also plumps it up so that, when I look in the mirror, the fine lines around my eyes aren’t that obvious anymore.

By the way, just because it’s called Day Cream, it doesn’t mean it can’t be used at night. Unless they have SPF, I always use my moisturisers both in the AM and the PM. Why buy two products when the one will do?

Rosehip PLUS Hydrating Day Cream is the exception to the rule. I can’t use it on exfoliation nights because, when I apply it on top of my exfoliant (currently NIP + FAB Glycolic Fix Overnight Purifying Gel – it has now been discontinued), it pills like crazy.

One more thing: I wish it didn’t contain geranium oil. It doesn’t give the cream much of a scent and it’s irritating. What’s the point in adding it? *sighs*
