I have a confession to make: I had no idea what Moringa was before I received a bottle of The Body Shop Beautifying Oil in Moringa…
Turns out it’s a drought-resistant tree that grows in the tropical and subtropical regions of South Asia. The oil that comes from it is a multi-tasker you can use on your face, body and hair.
I kinda dig it. The oil, not the scent. I want to buy a new bottle, but with a different scent. Moringa and I don’t get along that well. Here’s why:
What’s In The Body Shop Moringa Beautifying Oil?
CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE
Don’t let the complicated chemical name scare you. Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is just coconut oil – without its comedogenic components.
Its fatty acid content is a godsend for skin: it strengthens your skin’s protective barrier and makes your skin softer and smoother without causing breakouts.
Absolutely anyone – including acne-prone and sensitive skin – can use it.

MARULA OIL
Moringa may give its name to The Body Shop Moringa Beautifying Oil, but this stuff has a bigger dollop of Marula oil.
Derived from the nuts of the Marula tree found in the Southern and Central African woodlands, Marula oil is loaded with fatty acids that strengthen your skin’s protective barrier, reduce inflammation, and make skin softer and smoother.
That’s not all. Marula oil is also rich in antioxidants, the little heroes that destroy free radicals before they give you wrinkles. Oh, they help protect your skin from UV damage, too.

MORINGA OIL
There may not be much Moringa oil in The Body Shop Moringa Beautifying Oil, but I thought we should talk about it anyway. I mean, have you ever heard of Moringa oil before?
Moringa Oil is derived from the seeds of the Moringa oleifera tree, a leafy plant that grows in the Himalayas. It’s loaded with antioxidants, like quercetin and Vitamins A, C and E that slow down premature aging.
Like all oils, it’s also a good source of moisturising fatty acids to keep skin soft and smooth for hours.

Texture
It’s sort of oily (duh!) and takes about 10 minutes to fully absorb.
Fragrance
The Body Shop Moringa Beautifying Oil has a strong, but not overpowering, white floral scent that hangs around for hours. White florals are not really my thing, but if you dig them, you’re in for a treat.
How To Use It
It’s a multitasker you can apply to dry or damp hair and skin. It does it all!

Performance & Personal Opinion
I first tried The Body Shop Moringa Beautifying Oil on my body. It applies smoothly on the skin, but took about 10 minutes to absorb. I don’t really mind the extra drying time because it makes my very dry and thirsty skin feel so soft and smooth and keeps it moisturized for the entire day.
It also gives a nice sheen to my skin. I love the effect on my body. It’s dewy without being greasy. On my face? It made my oily t-zone a little too shiny for my taste. But at least it didn’t make my skin breakout.
You can also use the oil on dry hair to condition it and give it some shine, but make sure you use only a little bit or it will turn your head into a greasy mess.
Personally, I like to use it as an overnight conditioning treatment. I apply it on the length of my hair before going to sleep and then I wash my hair the next morning. Afterwards, my hair feels very soft and shiny and looks so healthy. Yes, it leaves a greasy residue on my pillow, but that’s a very small price to pay for gorgeous and radiant hair.
Who Is This For?
- Dry skin and hair that needs the extra TLC.
Who Is This For?
- Oily and acne-prone skin.
- Anyone who doesn’t like the scent of white flowers.
Packaging
The oil comes in a pretty, see-through tube with a very small opening, so it will only pour out very little product at a time. But that’s all you need. Nothing gets wasted!
(P.S. These pictures show the old packaging, but the review is about the new formula).

Di questa profumazione io uso il burro corpo e mi piace un sacco!
LaDamaBianca, questa profumazione non mi entusiasma, ma sono contenta che a te piaccia. E i burro corpo sono davvero fantastici.
I like the idea that this oil is a multi-tasked for face, body and hair. But I don’t really like oil on my face. The only one I have used is avocado oil on my face.
But for the body and hair, I love it. And I think they love it too. 🙂
Vonvon, I love to use oils for my body and hair too and this one is amazing. It works really well for at least 2 out of 3 intended uses so it’s still worth every cent imo. 🙂
i’d definitely use it for the body! love oils lately as my moisturizer 😀
Socialite Dreams, I like oils to moisturize my body and this one does such a wonderful job at it. 🙂
I really like the product but I have enough moisturizers and perfumes. I will keep an eye out on these though! If I really like I scent, I’ll get one.
Janessa, I’m sure you’ll find a scent you like, there are so many to choose from. 😉
i tried this when i saw it in local stores, i picked olive to try out, it took about 15 mins for it to get absorb, even then it still felt a little greasy. I hate greasy hands lol. It smells really lovely, and maybe it’ll be great as an overnight treatment for my really dry heels and hair ends, but for overall body and face, i think it’s too heavy already.
and you are so lucky to have so many flavours to choose from! we get only cocoa, coconut, olive, satsuma, shea and strawberry only >.< no fair!
Plue, I didn’t find it too heavy but I think it depends on your skin type. It took ages to absorb on the oily areas on my face, but only a few minutes on my dry body skin. I think it’s a good product, but not suitable for everyone. You can always use it on your hair as an overnight conditioning treatment. It works so well for that!
And what a shame you have only a bunch of shades to choose from.
ah you got your hands on it! yay!! lovely review!! it’s so nice to read that it moisturizes the body well, oils are sooo luxurious, I really want to try one one day haha. and you found a good use for it, for the hair, too!! It’s such a pretty bottle, I would try the Coconut scent but the price is aweful!!! I saw it on Greek Lucky magazine that it costs 9.00 euros, how weird. I dislike Body Shop for their prices therefore I stay away from their products lol. my body loofah/sponge from them cost over 2 euros, that is ridiculous haha. -.-
Denise, this one is very luxurious and so moisturizing! I agree that their products are quite pricey and 2euros for a sponge is ridiculous! But this oil at least is reasonably priced imo because it is so versatile and moisturizing, so you’re getting your money’s worth. But maybe you can check it out if it goes on sale. 🙂
